MESS iS LORE
When the adults through my childhood realized the only way to get me to sit still was to provide some sort of drawing materials, I started getting pretty good at drawing.
Once I gained a taste for it, I couldn't stop. It wasn't long before I exhausted my resources, but I doubled down and did anything I could to make more. Every sketchbook page was completely filled, every discarded scrap of wood from my high school's Woodshop was painted, and every spray paint can was emptied. The modern phrase "Less is More" felt like forsaking creativity in itself, discouraging the process and forgoing the mess associated. In a world filling with AI, I yearn for the mess. I rejoice in the challenge, the editing, and the construction.
I wanted my world to be full of stories, passion, and confidence - despite perceived flaws.
And thus, a Maximalist was born.
LOVE iS iN THE LiNES
While being a Jack of all Trades may no longer be in vouge, I maintain my strength lies in my Multidisciplinary practice.
My background in Printmaking and Digital Production informs my creative approach, as "knowing how the sausage was made" grants me technical insight to our best options every time. Want to turn some cave paintings into a comic panel? That's me. Want to make an animation out of a carving? That's ALSO me. Traditional mediums and Digital mediums all hold the same value in my eyes.
I see all these skills as innately interconnected, and being able to incorporate something unique and handmade into every project is a small thing I strive for. Not so I didn't waste an art degree. Not so I can charge more. And definitely not because Maximalism just means throw everything at the wall and see what sticks. But because that human touch will always be irreplaceable, and those imperfections is what makes my work feel so dynamic.
Love is in the Lines - and I work to draw, carve, model, vectorize, scan, cut,
and glue each stroke with passion that can be felt.
