virtual exhibit - ©ritical a®t show 2020

IN LIGHT OF COVID-19, THE STANDARD IN-PERSON ART EXHIBIT WAS NOT AN OPTION FOR THE 2020 SHOWCASE. TO SUPPLEMENT AN IN-PERSON EXPERIENCE, A VIRTUAL WALKTHROUGH OF A GALLERY SPACE WAS CREATED, CURATED, AND RENDERED THROUGH UNITY.

AS PART OF AN INTERNSHIP LEAD BY JOHN PARK, 15 STUDENTS MADE LARGE-SCALE VIDEO INSTALLATIONS FOR THE TV WALL AT THE GORDON HOTEL IN EUGENE, OREGON. WORKS WERE PREMIERED DURING A WEEK-LONG EXHIBIT FROM JUNE 9TH - 16TH, 2021.

FOR THIS PROJECT DRONE FOOTAGE WAS PROVIDED BY COLLABORATOR SILAS WARNER, THEN DEVELOPED INTO SCREEN PRINTED POSTCARDS. PROCESS FOOTAGE WAS COLLECTED AND USED FOR FINAL VIDEO PRODUCT.

THE VOTER TURNOUT IN THE AGE RANGE OF 18-25 IS DISMAL AT BEST. IN LIGHT OF THE 2020 ELECTION AND THE ARTIST'S RESIDENCE IN A COLLEGE TOWN, POSTERS WERE DISTRIBUTED AROUND TOWN IN THE MONTHS LEADING UP TO THE ELECTION. POSTERS ENCOURAGED THE GOAL OF REGISTERING NEW VOTERS, ENCOURAGING RESIDENTS TO MAIL IN THEIR BALLOTS EARLY, AND TO INFORM THE PUBLIC ABOUT THE CORE VALUES OF THE DEFUND THE POLICE MOVEMENT.
OVER 3600 POSTERS WERE DISTRIBUTED LEADING UP TO THE ELECTION.
A SIMILAR PROJECT WAS CREATED IN AUGUST OF 2020 WHEN THE UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE WAS REVEALED AS BEING OVERWORKED, UNDERPAID, POORLY MANAGED, AND PURPOSELY DISTRAUGHT IN ATTEMPTS TO UNDERMINE THE UPCOMING ELECTION.
