FROM OUR LIVING ROOM TO THE THEATER
Meet my college (and current!) roommate and Screen Kids Cinema Club co-founder, Rylee McConnell.
We were neighbors in the University of Oregon dorms, and quickly bonded over our mutual double majors of Art & Tech and Cinema Studies. While I went the art route, Rylee went cinema, working in film festival administration.
In a desperate attempt to see our friends more often, we hosted a monthly double feature of our choice in our living room in early 2024. We quickly outgrew our Hollywood apartment, and in November 2025 we partnered with The Earl Gallery in Koreatown, bringing our passion to the public sector.
IT'S B MOVIE MANIA!
Rylee and I both agreed on one thing right off the bat - that we wanted to bring back underground theater culture. We're both big fans of Exploitation Cinema and John Waters, so it was a natural decision. Living in LA, we're blessed with so many vintage theaters screening forgotten classics and cult hits, and we wanted to continue the tradition.
I went into the archives to find some classic posters to develop the branding, and we look forward to making as many variants as we can over the years.
